Congratulations to Raphael Mirasol for winning the 2007 Willow 9-Ball Classic!! Raph went undefeated all the way through, defeating Jay Casia in the winner's bracket final (hill-hill) and then again in the overall final.
What an amazing story! This is proof positive that in a handicapped event, the field is absolutely WIDE OPEN and anyone can win. Raph, your name will be the first on a new plaque that will hang proudly above Table 3.
Full bracket & results will be posted later today.
1st: Raphael Mirasol D ($500)
2nd: Jay Casia C+ ($300)
3rd: Kyle Ferris C+ ($160)
4th: Chris Ryan C+ ($100)
Thanks to everyone for helping to make this run smoothly. Great job by Pete Brennan for spearheading this event and promoting it the last several weeks. |

| How long did the tourney run on Sunday? Next time, should we try to get one more round in on Saturday? |

If the field gets any bigger, 64 max, we'd run the first round on Thursday and or Friday night. There would be 32 on the losers side and 32 on the winners side to start Saturday morning and then we'd have people getting knocked out right away on Saturday. Going an extra round on Saturday is really tough on the legs. As it was we were there from 9:30am till almost 9:00pm.
That doesn't include the post match parties at McSwiggans and L&J's till 3:00am _________________ Peter Brennan |

Hey Raphael...Congrats on your win! And Jason, way to go, coming in second!
I just want to say that this way my first nine ball tournament and it was definitely alot of fun. Thanks Gary for schooling me in my first game - on the intricacies of the 3 foul rule! (ha,ha) and thanks to Peter Brennan for organizing and always getting the word out that these tourneys are going on.
It's always nice walking into these tournaments and seeing familiar faces and getting to know more and more players and their styles. It's been really fun playing in these tournaments...

You and Matt should come play more often instead of just showing up once a quarter and puttin' a beatin on unexpecting players like myself. |
